Even the youngest children at Little Paddington join in a well-planned program which is enjoyable, challenging and motivating. As the children grow, their concentration increases and they are introduced to more structured programs, but the emphasis is always on play and fun. Our curriculum principles include Numeracy and problem solving, Science and Technology, Language and Literacy, Creative Arts and Sustainability and caring for our planet.

Music

A specialist music teacher visits the Centre once a week for a session with each age group. Research shows that music enhances a child's learning capacity and assists in early motor skill development, rhythm and speech.

Kinder Fitness

We believe that physical confidence plays an important part in developing a healthy self-esteem. This weekly program, by a visiting specialist, introduces the concepts of:

  • Improving gross motor skills
  • Improving self-esteem
  • Enjoying physical activity

Computers

Today's children are living with a range of devices in their everyday lives. Research shows that intentional and developmentally appropriate use of technology can support and enhance learning and development. Our specially designed computer program for four to five year olds allow the children to enjoy literature through interactive storytelling. The program also encourages exploration, discovery, creativity and logical thinking.

Yoga

Once a week the Pre-School children enjoy a yoga session from our visiting specialist. Fun-Key Yoga is a program designed to develop balance, strength and co-ordination in a playful environment. The instructors use games, storytelling, music and props to engage children both physically and mentally.

Mindfulness

There is an emerging body of research indicating that Mindfullness can improve attention span, calm down if they are upset and make better decisions. In short, it helps emotional regulation and cognitive focus.
The purpose of teaching Mindfullness at Little Paddington is to give the children skills to develop awareness of their inner and outer experiences; to relax and calm down at the end of the session; to focus on sounds around them; to recognise when their attention has wandered and to provide tools for impulse control.

Outdoor Program

At Little Paddington the children have program time outside as well as inside. The outdoor program incorporates sustainability and recycling programs, and gardening programs aim to promote respect for the environment, while inviting curiosity , discovery and exploration in a natural environment.
