The Kinder Room caters for children between the ages of three and four years. We have a maximum of fifteen children with one qualified team leader and an assistant. OBJECTIVES The room objectives focus on independence. They are as follows:· To encourage the children to recognise their own cup and bag hook· To encourage the children to recognise the position of their bed· To encourage the children to improve in their dressing skills· To encourage the children to help during meals· To encourage toilet training· To encourage quiet voices when indoors· To encourage the activities to be kept in their designated areas· To encourage the children to take turns during group times.
The above objectives are some of the long-term goals we work towards in the kinder room throughout the year (in addition to individual short term objectives). Achieving these objectives is a good start to a smooth transition into a Pre-prep program. COMMUNICATION/FEEDBACKEach day the kinder teachers write a daily journal to inform parents of the days events. This may include photos and will give a description of the group’s day. There is also a daily white board which will detail each individual routine for each child. There is also an opportunity for parents to speak to the teachers on a one to one basis through the year as well as receiving annual developmental reports. SIGNING IN The sign-in book is allocated at the front door of the Kinder Room. Please sign your child in and be sure to provide a contact phone number for day. If some one other than the child’s guardian are picking up, please inform a staff member. MEDICATION If your child requires medication, please fill out the medication book at the sign-in desk. Make sure you hand the medication over to a staff member so it is put away safely. Health regulations do not allow sick children to attend childcare centres due to the high risk of cross infection. We require a medical certificate when children are returning from contagious illnesses. MUSIC Music is a very important part of the program at Little Paddington. Once weekly , a specialist teacher from Mini Maestro’s attends the centre and takes each group for a music session. COMPUTERS Our specially designed computer program for three and four year olds allows the children to enjoy literature through interactive storytelling. As children use the computer they will develop skills such as hand-eye coordination. The program also encourages exploration, discovery, creativity and logical thinking. KARATERob, a qualified Karate Instructor will visit the centre once a week, performing sessions lasting half an hour. Karate aims to give children the opportunity to also learn new gross skills whilst having fun. AEROBICS The aerobics program is conducted by a qualified physical education teacher.. Throughout the session, children work through a series of activities incorporating dance, movement, rhythm and gymnastics. GYMBAROOA gymbaroo program is run in this room to encourage the development of the children’s gross motor skills. The children work through a series of activities that are in keeping with This program is run according Gymbaroo Australia guidelines. |
