THE PROGRAM

The objective of the toddler room is ‘ progression of independence skills.’ The toddler room has a prominent use of chairs and Imagetables, and a move towards getting the children to dress themselves. The qualified staff member will do the programming for the room on a fortnightly bases, coupled with individual observations on the children’s development. The program will always be hanging on the wall for perusal, and each child will receive a day sheet outlining what they did during their day at Little Paddington.

THE PHILOSOPHY

In the Toddler room, we endeavour to provide a safe and happy environment for the children. As such, the philosophy for the Toddler Room is as follows:

  • We believe that children need a stimulating and secure environment in order to grow and develop.
  • We believe in the importance of open ended play.
  • We believe that children should be allowed to focus on the process of their creations and expressions within art, rather than the end product.
  • We believe that all children deserve respect.
  • We believe that children should be taught positive guidance skills in relation to managing their own behaviour and conflicts.
  • We believe children develop their sense through ‘messy’ play experiences.

COMMUNICATION/FEEDBACK

Each day the pin board above the sign in book will display photos frm the children's day.  There is also a brief summary of each child's rest time was and how much food they have eaten. The program is created fortnightly, and that is always on display outlining the activities set up for the week.  Feel free to ring up anytime during the day and speak to the Toddler Room staff if you would like to see how your child has been.

WHAT TO BRING

We provide disposable nappies, and milk ( both soy and cow’s). Depending on your child’s needs you will need to provide bottles, a dummy and anything else they may require. A spare change of clothes is also needed. It is a good idea to have everything clearly named, especially bottles and dummies. Little Paddington will not take responsibility for unnamed items.

SIGNING IN
Please sign your child in each day at the sign in book located in the Toddler room, and be sure to provide a contact phone number for day. If some one other than the child’s guardian are picking up, please inform a staff member.
MEDICATION

If your child requires medication, please fill out the medication book at the sign-in desk. Make sure you hand the medication over to a staff member so it is put away safely. Health regulations do not allow sick children to attend the centre due to high risk of cross infection. We require a medical certificate when children are returning from serious illnesses.

MUSIC

Music is a very important part of the program at Little Paddington. Once weekly , a specialist teacher attends the centre and takes each group for a music session. The children are entranced as they explore the magic of sound, rhythm and movement and introduces them to musical instruments and a wide variety of songs.
